Social Value is high on the public and private sector procurement agendas and in recent months, when completing ITTs, we have noticed an increased emphasis being placed on social value outcomes.
So, what is social value and what does it mean to us?
Social Value is really about creating a lasting legacy for the communities we serve as a result of the activities we undertake.
For our purposes, our social value activities will be mainly determined by our Clients social value priorities—so it makes sense for us to get our heads around the whole agenda and tailor our activities to help generate the greatest returns…
…for us and our Clients!
So, what are we doing about it?
Well, to help us better understand the whole social value agenda we are participating in the Who Cares Wins development programme.
The programme will help us tangibly improve our applied understanding of social value, align our activities with our Clients’ priorities and articulate our improved capabilities to them.
Not a simple task—
The Who Cares Wins programme also includes assessment against the Social Value Certificate.
This is an external verification that independently confirms that ‘we do what we say on the tin’ and reassures us that we are heading in the right direction.
We are pleased to announce that we have recently become members of Social Value UK and have been awarded Social Value Pioneer status.
This is prestigious: we are the 1st roofing contractor and SME construction employer in the UK to be awarded this status.
We will be assessed against the Certificate shortly – this will also be another 1st!
Our social value journey involves you – you are an extremely important part of the equation and your support is vital!
Over the coming months our social value activity will become more visible and we will ensure that you become an intrinsic part of the journey.
We will demystify social value and ensure that you are kept in the loop.
We will arrange a number of social value Tool Box Talks and Awareness Sessions to help ensure that you are fully engaged, understand why we’re doing what we’re doing and seek your valuable input!
