Liquid Roofing

Liquid plastic roofing is essentially a covering for existing roof types, including flat, pitched and dome-shaped roofs.

It can be used to provide a new roof covering or in the repair or refurbishment of an existing roof.

It can be applied directly on top of existing concrete, roofing felt, brickwork, asbestos cement decks (subject to condition and priming requirements).

The most obvious advantage of this is the waterproofing attributes the coating brings. The roof becomes watertight immediately after the first use,

The membrane can last for anywhere between 5 and 30 years, depending on purpose and environment, proving a durable waterproofing option.

Installation

In general, the more complex the roof, the more obstructions you have to deal with the tougher the install is, that’s unless you install a liquid plastic roof.

Liquid roofs are easy to install, using either a brush roller, or spray gun.

They are seamless which eliminates the possibility of joint failure through poor workmanship.

They are applied cold and do not rely on perfect weather conditions which is ideal when you consider the unpredictability of our weather here in the UK (the coating can even be applied during periods of heavy rain.).

Liquid roofs can be applied directly on top of your existing roof, which means a double saving, both in terms of the cost to install and the cost to remove and dispose of the previous roofing materials.

The membranes are reinforced with glass fibre mat, which is easily moulded around detail areas allowing speed of application on complex roofs.

Maintenance

Whilst liquid offers a robust roofing solution, it can be damaged by falling objects or indeed other impacts, however, the nature of the application of liquid plastic roofing means that repair work can be carried out quickly and easily, with minimal disruption to the property owner.

The benefits of liquid roofing:

  • Economic: It provides a cost effective option to extend the life of failing roofs.
  • Versatile: Liquid roofing can be applied directly on top of a variety of materials.

  • Easy to Install: A liquid roof can be applied quickly and easily using a spray, brush or roller.

  • Safe: Unlike with many other roofing materials, such as asphalt or felt, the liquid coating can be applied cold, drastically reducing the risk of fire during the installation process.

  • Effective: A liquid roof becomes watertight as soon as the first application is complete.

  • Flexible: Temperature fluctuations, which can cause other roofing materials to crack, are no problem as the membrane can expand and contract without breaking.

  • Fire Resistant: The membrane is fire resistant, which not only keeps you safer, but can also lead to a reduction in insurance premiums.

  • Ease of Maintenance: Whilst no routine maintenance should be necessary, if the membrane does become damaged, it can be repaired quickly and easily by applying an additional coat over the damaged area.

  • Environmentally Friendly: it takes less energy to produce than other common roofing materials. It is also 100% recyclable, so decades into the future when your roof needs a replacement coating, the old coating won’t be tossed into a landfill.

The drawbacks of liquid roofing:

  • It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing: However, it can be painted with acrylic paint to allow you to match it in with the existing decor.
