It’s often not until you’ve got water pouring in that you start thinking about your roofing and its maintenance; but without regular inspections, it’s impossible to know the condition of your roof and indeed spot issues before they become problems!
And it’s not just about leaks – your roof is there to provide insulation and help keep you warm as well as dry.
There’s also the issue of rooflights or indeed any other openings or hatches:
- Are they water tight?
- Are they providing enough ambient light?
You want to know that your roofing is doing its job and saving you money, not costing you money!
Indeed, we have plenty of examples of where our clients’ investment in new roofing paid dividends:
On a recent job for the Ministry of Defence we not only replaced the roofing, we also upgraded their existing rooflights to allow a lot more natural daylight into the facility and thus reduce their energy bills by reducing the need for internal lighting during the day.
On a project for Morrisons, Seaburn, we improved the thermal performance of their roof by installing insulation boards and therefore reducing the cost to heat the facility.
Another client asked us to inspect the roof of one of their warehouses. The roof was badly in need of refurbishment, with water ingress a major problem. However, that wasn’t the only problem:
- Aging rooflights were restricting the amount of natural light getting into the warehouse, which meant extra lighting was required.
- The lack of thermal insulation given by the roof also meant they were spending far too much heating the warehouse.
The new roofing installed by Group Tegula sorted the water ingress problem as well as reducing the running costs of the warehouse.
